March Madness

It's been a crazy month, lots going on, where do I begin....  We are officially a family of four, meaning we now can leave the house with both kids, bags packed and only running back once for something forgotten in under 45 minutes.  That is pretty good considering the time it took us the first time...

Continuing with the theme of "change" this year, we embarked upon a couple new challenges this month including welcoming Siena to the family and moving to a new house.  Not the best timing after a c-section and newborn, but hey, we did it and settling into our town home and it feels good.  We couldn't have done it without the help of Super-Nana, who came for three weeks to help us with the move and the girls.

The new house is in a great area in Ellicott City, lots of families with young children, close to walking/jogging trails and parks.  We've been taking advantage of global warming 80 degree days in March to get outside as much as possible and enjoy that sunshine!

Here finally are some updated photos of Siena that some of you have been asking for!  Siena is a good little baby, I can't believe she is already six weeks old!  The time has really flown by and the statement you hear from everyone "they grow up so fast" is so true.  She is already giving mom a bit of a break and sleeping for longer stretches at night and making it all worthwhile by flashing those heart melting smiles that I've been waiting for weeks to have!  Even though she is a newborn, I can already tell how different her personality is from her sister.  She's pretty quiet most of the time, but if something is bothering her ie, needs to be changed or fed, watch out she has a loud set of lungs on her!  She loves bath time, going on walks outside and is very alert, she looks like she is always taking in her surroundings and checking everything out.

Sophiya has definitely fallen in love with her sister, it's almost as if there is no recollection of life before her.  She asks about "Enna" first thing in the morning and needs a kiss from her every night before bedtime.  She is really helpful and wants to be a part of the whole "baby" routine, so that has helped me quite a bit.  I can already see the bond forming between the two of them, and I'm so pleased that they will be able to grow up together so close in age, sisters are truly the best (love you Nicole!!).
Deciding that after never taking a pacifier in her life, now is a good time to start to be like her sister...

Sophiya is also growing with leaps and bounds.  Her language is exploding, it seems like she is picking up new vocabulary words everyday.  She is starting to string together words into sentences, it feels like all of a sudden she is a real little person coming up with her own ideas, jokes and opinions on everything!  And believe me, she certainly has strong opinions at a young age, such as exactly how her oatmeal should be prepared, her choice of shoes and what cup she wants to drink from.  The terrible twos are definitely in full swing, but it's not all terrible ;)  Anyone who is a parent of a toddler knows that you just have to learn to laugh in order to get through this stage!

I've recently started a new full time position with Cultural Vistas as a Placement Specialist.  Yes, I'm working with my husband yet again, completely unintentional I swear!  When I originally applied, I was hoping for flexible hours and the ability to work from home and it turns out that was exactly what they were looking for.  With two young children, any mother knows the choice between work and home is a difficult one.  One that is plagued with guilt and questioning whether you are doing the right thing not to be with your little ones.

Thankfully, this job allows me the flexibility to keep the newborn at home with me to start and Sophiya has just recently started a full day program at the Julia Brown Montessori School in Columbia.  She is loving it and thriving in the mixed aged classes, her teachers say that all the older kids absolutely love and dote on her.  She wears a uniform everyday to school which makes getting dressed in the mornings much easier and she looks so darn cute in her "school clothes" as she says.

Balancing work and home life will always be a challenge for any family but it's going quite well considering all the changes in our life recently!
Unpacking is fun!  "New" toys and outfits to try out!

We are so thankful for Nana being here during this crazy time, she was SUCH amazing help.  We miss you!
And so concludes this blog session!  Despite so much going on, I promise to carry on blogging, it's a great way to keep everyone up to date on the Myers Family happenings and get snapshots out to those far away from us.  Lots of Love from the four of us!
